| Solidification Products International (SPI) has been in business since 1991. SPI manufactures & supplies oil and water absorbent products and containment systems that provide complete solidification of hydrocarbon and various aqueous hazardous and nonhazardous liquids. These products are used for emergency response spills on land or water as well as routine maintenance applications by major utility, oil and remediation contractors in addition to general industrial plants. SPI has evolved from initially manufacturing a unique line of absorbent spill products to providing the industry's first patented 100% oil containment systems. In response to proposed EPA regulations, in the late 1990's SPI developed and patented the unique technology that allows for direct discharge of storm water while providing 100% passive oil spill containment. William J. Gannon (Bill) is President and CEO of SPI. Prior to founding SPI, Bill was Executive Vice President for Liquid Waste Technologies (LWT) and was instrumental in developing absorbent polymers for use by the environmental waste disposal industry since 1984. BilI introduced the first polymer filled absorbent oil spill booms and pillows to the environmental industry in 1987. LTW's products were tested on the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989 and sold to oil companies on the North Slope in Alaska. Bill and LWT were featured on the cover of Hazmat World magazines' November 1990 issue demonstrating LWT's polymer oil spill products. In 1991, Bill founded SPI to manufacture and market solidification technology. Currently there are three US patents, #6,485,639 issued November 26, 2002, #6,503,390 issued January 7, 2003 and #6,841,077 issued January 11, 2005. SPI continues to advance this unique, innovative technology with additional US and foreign patents pending and the addition of future products to enhance the existing SPI product line. |
