Actual 200-Gallon Oil Spill

Eighteen months after installation of SPI's Petro-Barrier™ product, approximately 200 gallons of transformer oil leaked from this New York substation transformer, rising two inches from the floor of the contained area. All the oil flowed to the Petro-Barrier, which completely prevented oil from escaping the contained area. After the oil was cleaned up, SPI responded and absorbed the remaining oil. The Petro-Barrier media that had reacted with the oil was removed, leaving fresh unused product. The sump was repacked with fresh Petro-Barrier media.

A containment area where oil filled equipment is stored for over three years had formed a seal over the Petro-Barrier™ installed.	The solidified section of the Petro-Barrier™ is removed.

Oil Spill in Petro-Barrier™ sump after all the free oil had been vacuumed up. The media is removed and replaced with fresh Petro-Barrier™ media. No oil escaped the containment area	After the area was cleaned a new Petro-Barrier™ and filters were installed and the Petro-Barriers™ clock Is reset for five years.
