4” PETRO-PLUG® INSTALLED IN TYPICAL FLOOR DRAIN
Use these unique “filters” to protect small floor drains, as
in garages and maintenance pits and underground
transformer vaults.
Designed to work in standard piped floor drains, SPI Petro-Plugs® will
allow water to flow through the drain as usual. However, utilizing our
patented material the Petro-Plug® will remove any grease or oil that
would have otherwise gone down the drain along with the water. With a
useful life of one year, the Petro-Plug® will act just like a barrier, If a
spill of oil runs to the drain, the Petro-Plug® forms a plug to prevent
any leakage of oil into the drain.
Oil cannot get through the Petro-Plug®
These products are made to be quick and easy to install, a disposable
oil barrier that is more effective and less expensive than an oil/water
separator. A 3-inch Petro-Plug® has been designed to simply slide into
a standard 3-inch pipe drain, likewise a 4-inch Petro-Plug® will easily
slip into a 4-inch diameter pipe drain. For areas with a high water table,
or specifically for underground transformer vaults, the Underground
Vault Petro-Plug® has a check valve that can keep ground water from
coming up into the Petro-Plug® from below. Indoor automotive repair
garage drains, covered floor areas where oils are stored, or anywhere
small amounts of water must be sent to a drain with the risk of oil
contamination is ideal for the installation of a Petro-Plug® .
