Petro-Barriers filter rail car area rainwater at a new oil containment area. Prior to the installation, unfiltered rainwater flowed to a major river.
An SPI employee conducts an installation in the center of the oil containment area, where rainwater is directed to two Petro-Barriers.
Drainage to this 20 x 200 yard oil containment area is provided by two Petro-Barriers, one 44 x 44 inches and 24” X 34”. Both Petro-Barriers have dirt and debris filters that require periodic changing.
Sloped concrete directs all runoff to the Petro-Barriers, which filter out oil sheen and release clean water while providing 100% oil containment in the event of an oil spill.
Petro-Barriers have protected this oil containment area from oil spills 24/7 for more more than 18 months.
New vegetation is able to grow at the outfall area 18 months after Petro-Barrier installation.
