Petro-Pipes®, Petro-Plugs® and Petro-Barriers™ are constantly tested to ensure that they perform up to SPI’s standards, including those regarding flow rates and effectiveness. Petro-Pipes have been tested in-house and also by independent laboratories to verify SPI claims and performance.
 Oil Containment Testing  Oil Spill Containment Testing
Independent laboratory testing effectiveness of Petro-Pipes and flow rates. Transformer oil is poured into a box containing the Petro-Pipe. Less than 30 seconds after oil contacts the media, all flow is shut off.
 Oil Spill Containment  
Only water drips are left as all flow is stopped from an overload of oil. After the oil is removed from the test vessel, the Petro-Pipe is cut open. The darker material shows where transformer oil has been absorbed; the lighter material is unused media.
